Not following the lead of Spain's Joaquin Verdegay, Paul Gutjahr - of Switzerland - said he would refrain from publicly adding to the verdict that sent Ferrari's number one driver from pole position to the very rear of the Monte Carlo grid.
But he told Motorsport Aktuell magazine that, as a result, the German's ultimate failure to win the race could cost Schumacher the 2006 World Championship.
''Mathematically the title is still open,'' he acknowledged, ''but (Fernando) Alonso is going to be difficult to beat."[/quote]
