Permettez-moi de vous présenter le Sergent Doug Arnao, votre IP (Instructeur de pilotage) ici, à Race Driving 101, notre camp virtuel d'entraînement au maniement d'une voiture de course. Dans la vie, <span style="color:yellow">Doug est moniteur de conduite en compétition pour divers clubs automobiles. C'est aussi un ancien champion national du SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) en catégorie Solo - l'équivalent du hot-lap dans le monde réel - au volant d'une Porsche 914-6 à châssis tubulaire. Doug m'a appris tout ce que je sais du pilotage dans Grand Prix Legends ; j'espère seulement pouvoir vous transmettre correctement le fruit de ses enseignements.

Did I mention Doug Arnao's &quot;secret&quot; to fast lap times? Doug is a real-world racer and instructor who helped me write the strategy guide. He said the most important part of negotiating each corner is to get on the power sooner rather than later. This may seem obvious (the maxim &quot;in slow, out fast&quot; is well known), but I see a lot of guys on line doing the reciprocal thing: in fast, out slow. Doug's whole approach to setups is to devise ones that allow the car to &quot;accept the power&quot;, in his words. Every single practice lap work on putting the hammer down just a fraction earlier than the lap before, and you will see an improvement in your times. -- Steve Smith

With the above you can build the speed down the straight to take your opponent easily, up OFF the corner, not into.

Modelling is linked with the name of <span style="color:yellow">Doug Arnao, who is a former SCCA champion driver. Now he is an instuctor and he is tuning Porsche race cars in the US for a living (his name appeared in simulators like Grand Prix Legends and F1 2001 and 2002).
