A slick tire is a type of tire that has no tread pattern, used mostly in auto racing. By having no tread pattern such tire provides the largest possible contact patch to the road, and maximizes traction for any given tire dimension.

Since there is no tread pattern, the tire does not deform too much under the load during race. The reduced deformation allows the tire to be constructed of softer compounds without excessive overheating and blistering. Slick tires provide far more traction than patterned tires on dry roads while on wet roads the traction is severely diminished by the water that cannot be removed from contact patch due to absence of tread pattern.

Slick tires are not suitable for use on common road vehicles, which must be able to operate in all weather conditions. They are used most widely in auto racing where competitors can choose different tires based on the weather conditions and can often change tires during a race. In Formula One slick tires are no longer allowed, yet dry weather tires are still often referred to as 'slicks' as they have minimal tread pattern and similar behaviour in wet weather.

Isso do cut-slick vai contra tudo o q é definição de slick ó Gil, penso eu de que...
Have Fun !!!
