Heikki Kovalainen, novo companheiro de equipa de Lewis Hamilton na McLaren, quer igualdade de tratamento na escuderia de Woking.

"Quero ter um carro competitivo para poder lutar por vitórias e pelo campeonato, onde quer que seja", disse Kovalainen, em declarações que podem ser entendidas como resposta ao director operacional da McLaren, Martin Whitmarsh, que afirmou que o objectivo em 2008 é "dar o título a Hamilton".

A contratação de Fernando Alonso parece ter dado uma injeção de ânimo nos componentes da Renault. Após uma temporada ruim, em que ficou longe da disputa do título, a equipe vem se preparando e já anunciou um R-28 mais veloz do que o seu antecessor. Entretanto, a grande revolução promete vir com três letras: CFD, ou Cálculo de Dinâmica de Fluidos. Este software servirá de ferramenta para que a equipe conheça a atuação do fluxo de ar na carroceria do R-28 quando este estiver em movimento, sem precisar levá-lo para o túnel de vento.

"Fittipaldi: Piquet a challenge for Alonso

<span style="color:#0000FF">Former world champion Emerson Fittipaldi has warned Fernando Alonso to expect a tougher time against Nelson Piquet Jr at Renault in 2008 than the Spaniard had against Lewis Hamilton at McLaren this year.

And Fittipaldi believes that Piquet Jr's extensive testing mileage for Renault this year will lead to him being a significant threat to Alonso.

Toyota gets two more years to prove itself in F1

ArrayF1's big spender Toyota could pull out of Formula 1 in two years time unless the team can get themselves into a consistently competitive position over the next two years. Toyota's team principal admitted he has two more years to prove Toyota belongs in Formula One.

The team started twice from pole position and managed to finish in a podium position just six times in six seasons. With the team's annual budget close to US$500 million the management in Japan now demands results. &quot;I have been given two more years,&quot; said Toyota's F1 team principal Tadashi Yamashina &quot;So we will work and fight to make sure we prove ourselves in the 2008 season.&quot;
